Elhan Ergin

Elhan Ergin’s work is an exploration of overglaze decoration along with hand building and wheel thrown ceramics.

Elhan Ergin graduated from Bogazici University and obtained her master’s degree in ceramics and glass at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul. Following this, she started giving lectures at the same school that lasted until 2003.

Elhan Ergin began working on ceramics in 1999 exploring overglaze decoration along with hand building and wheel thrown ceramics. Her studies at Adelphi University in New York sparked the passion she had had for alternative firing methods. She attended workshops of Don Reitz, Matt Long, and Albert Pfarr at Greenwich House Pottery in New York. She studied wheel throwing and firing techniques using the porcelain clay body and researched traditional Iznik design to develop a modern approach.

Elhan Ergin continues her works in her private ceramic studio since 2003 located in Istanbul, Turkey. She organizes workshops and participates in exhibitions all over the world. Her work is mainly figurative and wheel-thrown ceramics.
